Rules Text
The veil between the world of the living and the dead grows thin in a SƩance Parlor.
Research: Fortune Telling
When you issue the Research order to this facility, you commission its hireling to read your fortune by casting bones, interpreting tea leaves, performing a tarokka reading, or using some other means. After your fortune is read, you gain Heroic Inspiration. You canāt gain this benefit again until you finish a Long Rest.
Speak with Dead
After spending a Long Rest in your SƩance Parlor, you can cast Speak with Dead immediately without expending a spell slot or needing Material components. When you cast it in this way, you can target any deceased creature whose name you know, as long as you have a piece of its remains (such as ashes or a bone) or an object that was important to the creature in life (such as a brooch or signature weapon). The target speaks through an implement in the SƩance Room such as a crystal ball or spirit board.
Balance Notes
- Compare this facility against other 5-level facilities before allowing homebrew upgrades.
- Keep the listed Bastion order as the primary action loop; additional benefits should usually be narrative, temporary, or gated by downtime.
- If this facility grants creatures, information, resources, crafted items, or empowerment, keep those outputs tied to Bastion turns rather than free adventuring actions.
