Rules Text
A Museum contains relics and treasures brought back from expeditions you participated in or sponsored, carefully cataloged and displayed.
Research: Specialized Lore
When you issue the Research order to this facility, you commission the hireling to study particular treasures in the museum. The work takes 7 days. The hireling gains knowledge regarding some question of ancient history as if they had cast the Legend Lore spell, then shares this knowledge with you the next time you speak with them.
Secrets of the Past
Your Museum contains one treasure that gives you a magical Charm (see āSupernatural Giftsā in the Dungeon Masterās Guide) when you spend 7 days studying it and then finish a Long Rest in your Bastion. The Charm lasts for 7 days or until you use it. You canāt gain another Charm from this facility while you still have one. The effect of the Charm depends on the origin of the treasure in your Museum. You can choose one of the following options (your DM might make more options available or limit the existing options based on your past expeditions):
-
Charm of Argonnessen
-
Charm of Ashtakala
-
Charm of Dhakaan
-
Charm of Khyber
-
Charm of Xenādrik
Enlarging the Facility
You can enlarge your Museum to a Vast facility by spending 2,000 GP. If you do so, the Museum can have two treasures with different origins. A Vast Museum gains two additional hirelings, for a total of three. Assign names and personalities to them as you see fit.
Balance Notes
- Compare this facility against other 13-level facilities before allowing homebrew upgrades.
- Keep the listed Bastion order as the primary action loop; additional benefits should usually be narrative, temporary, or gated by downtime.
- If this facility grants creatures, information, resources, crafted items, or empowerment, keep those outputs tied to Bastion turns rather than free adventuring actions.
